The Charming View Of Restaurante La Tortilla Mexicana Intrigued Me
This is a Mexican-food place right over Quadra Street in Victoria and is painted on the outside with the Mexican flag colors.
That was the first thing that drew my attention: the fact that they kept the name of the place in Spanish and also their proud flag colors.
The second thing that drew me in was that it is painted in vibrant colors that are as much a part of the place´s decoration as they are part of their culture.
One wall is mustard-colored, the other is red and the columns that hold the place together are light blue.
Also, there are some typical pieces inside like this amazing huge red and white typical Mexican hat, a colorful poncho and many more things.
The place looks and feels so cozy and familiar because it is actually run by an entire family who will divide tasks and smile at you at all times.
Ricardo, the owner is also the head of the family and he promises you that his food is as good as the one found in Mexico itself.
I spoke to him and he said that he comes from a long stream of a gastronomy family and came to the North of the continent to find new opportunities for himself and his family.
I thought it was awesome to be able to contribute to a dream come true and also get to taste some of the best enchiladas and burritos I had in a long time.
It is not as strange as a Soup Restaurant that also grills burgers and my friends wonder what do I do going to such a classic place given my tastes me.
I guess the fact that I´m helping a family of fighters who struggled a lot and made it through this far while enjoying some awesome home-made dishes is hard to beat. I strongly recommend you visit Ricardo and his family, they truly are awesome.
